400 schools. 1 million children. One mission: reclaim childhood.
A year ago, I stood before hundreds of headteachers in North London with a simple but urgent message: We must protect our children from the harms of smartphones and social media.
Back then, only a handful of schools were smartphone free.
Today, more than 400 schools across North London are committed to being smartphone free, protecting over one million children.
Barnet led the way, and others have followed, encouraging parents to keep smartphones out of childhood and safeguarding more pupils than the combined school populations of Manchester, Leeds, and Birmingham.
A grassroots movement of parents and school leaders taking action while government lags behind.
The evidence is clear: smartphones and social media are fuelling a mental health crisis among children.
This is a collective action problem. Every school and every parent needs to stand up for change.
If North London can do it, every community can.
No smartphones before 14.
No social media before 16.
Every school smartphone free.
It’s time to unplug our children and help the next generation thrive again in the real world.
I am so grateful to everyone who has already helped along the way, thank you.
